Elevating WIDAR’s
Online Presence
Challenge
Before the redesign WIDAR's app, the marketing team face a big challenge. Because of the usability issues of our app, users were reaching out with questions & seeking guidance on understanding how our tools work. Given this challenge, I saw an opportunity to make our service more appealing by adding an online presence & exploring areas where we can engage our community more.
My Role
In collaboration with the head of marketing, I initiated a website project, focusing on spotlighting key features and providing educational insights into each tool's functionality.
We also expanded our focus beyond the website to Instagram. This aimed to educate users about 3D fields and our app, aligning with our user base's preference for educational material.

Information Architecture
I began by mapping out the existing functions and user flows hierarchically, distilling them to their core features. This not only simplified the overall structure but also assisted our product team in organizing app features more effectively.
Following that, I established clear pathways for users to effortlessly access information about the tools, features, and functionalities.
Moodboard
Along with the website project, we're undergoing a rebranding effort for WIDAR. Here's the mood board I made specifically tailored for the site. Drawing inspiration from western AR, Web3, Metaverse, and 3D space, our goal is to resonate with our target users—3D artists and enthusiasts. We aim for a futuristic aesthetic, balanced with a touch of refinement to maintain a respectable image as a creative tool.
Rough Wireframes
I utilized Figma to generate initial sketches, engaging in continuous iterations with our marketing manager. Following multiple discussions, I refined the concept layout several times. This iterative process of sketching and wire-framing allowed me to strategically prioritize elements on the landing pages while meeting marketing requirements.
Outcomes
Home Page
The primary objective for the home page is to attract new users while also educating existing ones about our core features through tutorials.
I designed a simple home page featuring a clear CTA accompanied by a background video of a composition using our app. Following this, I’ve added a concise three-column section that quickly communicates the value of using our app. Below, a dedicated features section highlights the narrowed core features, each accompanied by an illustrative video showcasing its appearance in our app. This ensures users identify with specific sections of the app, with each feature seamlessly linked to its own page. Finally, I’ve added a CTA that encourages users to download our app.
*Note this website was released prior to the app rebrand hence the app images are dated. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the capacity to revisit and update due to competing priorities.
Defining key features through their
own separate pages
I narrowed all of Widar’s disjointed features into three categories to market it. Each pages showcases each of the tools under the category. I’ve decided to add short clips of how each of them works in the app so user can have a sense of what we’re offering and how it works in context of their needs.
A Support Page
I designed a simple fact page with categories organized and collected from all of the email inquiries that the marketing team has received. Below the FAQs is a contact page for any additional questions they might have. We’ve linked this to our app as well.
Expansion to Instagram
Acknowledging our users' interest in educational content, I suggested an extension of our efforts to Instagram, leveraging it as a platform to educate users about the 3D field and our app. This aligned with our user base's preference for educational materials.
I designed Instagram posts, featuring insights into the 3D field, app education, and user highlights. Design-wise, I chose a fun and light-hearted aesthetic to visually engage our community. We A/B tested different styles as well.
Reflections
Tackling the WIDAR website redesign was a learning experience that highlights the importance of simplicity and continuous refinement. Collaborating closely with the marketing team, I gained a deeper understanding of how design decisions can impact business goals, particularly in terms of user engagement and conversions. Navigating social media, especially on Instagram, has been fascinating and sparked curiosity about exploring new platforms like Discord and TikTok. This journey has shown me that every step in design is an opportunity to explore, learn, and engage with a dynamic community.
